Some things about the RCCRC

RCCRC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) located at 8152 East Washington Rd, Branch, MI, (or 43°48’58.32″N, 86°04’26.90″W, for geo-cachers)  near the Big South Branch of the Pere Marquette river and Ruby Creek. Originally founded in 1972, around the time of the first release of Coho salmon into Ruby Creek, as a social club for like minded people who enjoyed the many recreational opportunities of the area. Fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling were the first main interests. For years bingo was an important event that faded as casinos became more accessible.

Today hunting and fishing remain popular. Kayaking, hiking, and ORV’s have gained a lot of interest also. The Club is focused on promoting safe and sustainable enjoyment of these endeavors through education and protection of the environment.

RCCRC sponsors an annual hunters safety class for area youth and adults, we also sponsor a scholarship at West Shore Community College for one student a year. RCCRC hosts several fund raising meals and events each year.

The club hall is available for rent for public or private events, has seating for 160 people and a spacious, health department inspected kitchen to handle food preparation. The vestibule contains a small lending/trading library for rainy days.

RCCRC has leased the original salmon release pond on Ruby Creek from the state of MI. We constructed a large covered picnic area, pit toilet and interpretive center. There is a flowing well on site. The pond is maintained as a catch and release kids fishing area, and hiking and fishing for all is available on Ruby Creek.
